The Feedback Was Clear: Drone Defense Is Becoming Infrastructure
We received a lot of feedback on our recent drone defense article—and for good reason.
The last several years have fundamentally changed how governments, militaries, and infrastructure operators think about the airspace above critical assets. • Security experts increasingly warn that data centers must incorporate airspace security and counter-UAS capabilities into facility design rather than treating them as afterthoughts.
• Drone attacks against strategic infrastructure have demonstrated how low-cost aerial systems can threaten assets worth billions of dollars.
The AI infrastructure buildout is creating thousands of new physical assets worth billions of dollars each. As hyperscale data centers become more important to national economies, drone defense is rapidly becoming part of the infrastructure stack itself.
The next generation of critical infrastructure may require not only power, fiber, compute, and cooling—but persistent airspace awareness, autonomous detection networks, and counter-UAS systems as well.
